Stepping Forward with a Sense of Wholeness: A Service of Healing, Hope, and Resilience

Our Jewish tradition is replete with rituals and ceremonies to guide and support us through moments of transition and loss. The opportunity to name, commemorate, and sanctify time aids us in the process of meaning-making, especially after experiencing loss and grief like many of us have living through this pandemic. It has been an intense and challenging time for so many.

We are grateful for the opportunity to gather as a community and create an intentional space for each of us to be present to what we have been holding over the past year, enabling us to emerge forward with a deepened sense of wholeness. Our unique and interactive healing service, curated and led by Rabbi Aderet, Sarah Hurwitz, and our very own Den members, Judy Gerstenblith, Naomi LeVine, Oliver Macklin, and Ben Wacks, will include readings of Jewish wisdom, poetry, prayer and ritual, to cultivate healing, hope, and resilience within each of us. We will hold time for quiet reflection and writing, communal prayer and song, and small group discussions. Everyone is always welcome. Please feel free to extend this invitation to others.

What you will need and suggestions to set the mood:

·      Find a cozy and quiet spot to settle into (if possible, a different location than where you’ve been working all day;)

·      Get into comfy clothes

·      Grab a pen/pencil and some paper

·      Put out a small candle with matches if you’ve got them – if not, no worries.

·      Question our team is holding: What has been your experience with loss this year?

If you are seeking pastoral counseling, a confidential and safe space to process, please reach out to Rabbi Aderet. In addition, we have numerous resources to support you during this challenging time, including a list of local therapists. We’re here for you, reach out to us.
