Kayaking Tashlich on the Potomac River

We love this time of year! Join the Den for our annual Kayaking Tashlich experience on the Potomac River as we experience a meaningful and relaxing way to take part in the powerful ritual of Tashlich. Tashlich, or “casting away”, is performed during the Ten Days between the start of Rosh Hashana and the beginning of Yom Kippur. Our rabbis will guide us in this ritual experience on the water, and then you are invited to enjoy the riverside scenery and find a spot to eat lunch together. We’ll meet at Fletcher’s Cove Boathouse for introductions + intention setting before heading out on the water together. All are welcome.

Hike + Learn: Spiritual Grounding During the Omer

We’ll enjoy a hike in the great outdoors and then break for learning over snacks. We’ll explore the spiritual grounding and renewal practice of counting the Omer that takes place during the weeks between the festivals of Passover and Shavuot.

Beginning on the 2nd night of Passover, we count the Omer, for 49 days, until we arrive at the festival of ShavuotCounting the Omer began as a count toward the spring harvest, and it has evolved into a spiritual accounting. The Omer is a period for introspection and personal growth, in preparation for receiving the Torah on Shavuot.

Hiking and learning in nature will provide us with an ideal setting for looking inward and discovering new places for us to stretch and grow. Everyone welcome, this will be a hike suitable for folks at various levels.

We will meet up at a DC hiking spot. Details will be shared with registrants. Sign up below by Thursday, May 30th @ 10am.

Hike + Learn: the Divine in Nature

The spiritual realm and the natural world are often thought of as two separate planes of existence. Judaism, however, understands that the spiritual and the physical exist together, simultaneously - we cannot have the natural without the spiritual. How do we connect our spirituality + the Divine presence with the grounding, presence, and connections we feel in nature? Join the Den for a hike through nature and a discussion connecting that experience with our spiritual consciousness.

This gathering will be held in DC close to NoVA. All are welcome!
